Plastics and “Forever Chemicals" like PFAS are extremely resistant to natural degradation. As a result, these chemicals accumulate in our environment, the food we eat, and our bodies. The Green Quorum project is aimed at improving our ability to recycle plastic and degrade forever chemicals by creating new organisms and enzymes that breakdown these pollutants.
The Green Quorum project implements powerful image analysis software on the Opentrons robot to automate directed evolution experiments. Using the platform is simple and tailored for directed evolution of plastic degrading enzymes which offers an advantage over competitors. We use this platform to develop plastic and PFAS degrading enzymes and organisms as a product. We also offer our enzyme development services to companies designing plastic recycling or bioremediation solutions.
That all plastics are biodegradable to some degree.
That we can significantly decrease degradation time by better enzymes.
Scaling the platform in the next few months will allow for the rapid development of organisms to degrade many forms of plastic.
