The partial valuation some wild animals get due to lack of understanding of the contributions they make to the ecosystem.
A teaching patadaigm that addresses contributions made by wild animals, like the contributions wolf made to the Yosemite ecosystem (they were removed due to the lack of understanding of how they contributed to the ecosystem, when those contributions were made apparent they were reintroduced. Okapis also were severely hunted down, but their demise has been dented by local societies that emphasized and taught the contributions Okapis made (outside their pelt or their meat.) it’s teaching the web of contributions that leads to a fuller valuation of wild animals and a net dent in their path to extinction.
Assumption is that the food chain doesn’t make it obvious the nontangible contributions made by wild life.
That an addendum to the food chain paradigm can begin to address the problem and go a long way towards developing a deeper understanding that will translate into more wild life spared.
A lack of information about contributions by endangered species and wild animals in general. Offering different view of old problems.
Print teaching plan and try it out at elementary schools (Mexico and USA).
Develop electronic materials: a resource web and or an app to help share the lesson plans and associated materials.
